Laughlin and Stanton

The Colorado River flows through Laughlin, NV. We camped right next to the river in a county park. Water sure makes things grow, and I loved the flowers and palm trees. The casinos glowed at dusk, and Ron marveled at the world’s largest nugget found with a metal detector on display. The wind made travel difficult so we stayed put an extra day, watching the local hatchery shoot rainbow trout into the river. Then we traveled to Stanton, a ghost town north of Wickenburg, AZ. A praying mantis decorated Ron’s sock (it was huge!) and the sunsets and sunrises have been a spectacle every day! Ron is very happy to show you his latest find (very near the camper again), a 1.1 gram nugget! And I’ve been finding little flakes of gold using the recirculating sluice.
