Lennox and the grandkids

We arrived in Lennox in time for the Cowboy Mounted Shooting State Shoot, which was held at the Whitehead's Arena (Katelynd and Myra's grandparents). There were about 60 people there and approximately 35 contestants. Katelynd rode with the American flag while a tape played with John Wayne speaking about how great America is. There were different classes of shooters - Katelynd was competing with adult women. Myra was in the youngest group and shot with an unarmed cap gun - her difficulty was to manage the intricate course and her horse. Grandpa Gene, Katelynd and Dad accompanied her on her course. I loved Myra's horse's boots. Both girls are quite the horsewomen! The local TV station interviewed Dad (Mike) and we watched him on TV news that night!

We also took the girls camping at Split Rock State Park, right near Palisades State Park and Devils Gulch. Our truck looked pretty scary on the old bridge from the 1800s! Myra's hair was electrified from the plastic slide at the playgroud! Most of the rocks there are quartzite (sand heated and pressed) and are a beautiful pink color. Once in a while we saw pipestone too. Hiking, fishing, geocaching, roasting hot dogs and marshmallows, and our own personal tour on the boat was really fun! A great time was had by all!
