After we left Monterey, we traveled 100 miles or so down the coast to AvilaBeach, just outside of San Luis Obispo. As you can see, our campsite was right on the ocean!I stood in the big picture window of the camper and watched the seals (and sharks? dolphins? Something with 2 big dorsal fins anyway) fishing for lunch each day.We toured Morro Rock; Ron did some treasure hunting with his metal detector, and I rode the upright bicycle each day.Our last day there I rode to the top of a huge mountain and had a panoramic view of Morro Rock, San Luis Obispo and all the little volcanic plug mountains in between the two. While I was at the top, there was a rocket launched from Vandenburg AFB carrying a satellite zoomed up the hill by me.I had the camera out for the panoramic shot of the area so I turned and took its picture too!It was pretty cool to watch, sort of like watching a space shuttle go up.The seals were pretty cozy under the pier’s boardwalk and it was fun to watch them snorting and snuzzling.I think I took a picture of a dead jellyfish on the beach to - I was careful not to walk on it with my bare feet. We traveled to the Orange County Fairgrounds south of LA yesterday and are visiting family this weekend. Then we’re off to western Arizona!Looking forward to gold prospecting with our friends John and Jane.
