We're home (for now!)

We left the Trigos the middle of February and headed for sunny Southern California in the middle of a drenching rain. When we arrived at our campground, it was snowing, sleeting, raining and freezing! But the next day the weather cleared up although things were pretty cold. I dared to try the hot tub anyway (but I did NOT roll in the snow!) We looked around at the RV dealers and settled on the kind of camper we wanted. After 5 days of wheeling and dealing, we had had enough and left for Gold Basin, the gold field just south of Las Vegas. Spring was just arriving there, although not as far along as the Trigos. This little nicotiana flower was blooming by the side of the wash, along with this unknown white flower.

This little lizard was pretty cold in the chilly mornings and posed very nicely for me. I did a little metal detecting and although we didn't find any gold, Ron found (many) and I found (just one) meteorites.

So here's a picture of the meteorites, Ron's current gold finds, and the beautiful Joshua tree by our camper at sunset. What a fantastic winter we have had!

On the way home we stopped at Casper, WY and checked out the camper we liked there. They were able to give us a pretty good deal and so we got this 5th wheel toyhauler. It's going to be home for the next few years, so we're relishing the extra space and garage area for the ATV.
The weather was perfect for our drive home, although a bit windy through Wyoming our last day. But as soon as we got home, it snowed and became frigid - temps around zero each night and only in the 20s or so in the day. But next week it looks like things will warm up again. We're busy getting things ready for our big rummage sales (every Saturday through the month of April) and thinking about what's going into storage. We're ready to sell the house and hit the road - hope it all works out! We'll keep you posted - Sue

  1. Wow! So exciting :) I can't wait until the kids are just a bit older and we go camping and do a little bit of traveling.

Your littlest niece and nephew say hi (in the form of blowing raspberries and doing the open/close hand wave).
