Tuesday, Day 12 - Hill City to Pringle

This was my last day on the bike ride, as Ron and I are headed for Idaho to see John and Elizabeth tomorrow! Another gorgeous day, and after picking up Karen M's bike from the shop (they replaced her tires!) we headed up the hill to Crazy Horse. We got there just in time to take the tour bus around the base of Crazy Horse. Then I zoomed through the exhibits, checking out all the star quilts, and we hopped on our bikes for lunch in Custer at the Sage Creek Grill. After a bit of chocolate at the candy store, we went about 2 feet and Dusty's bike sprung an unfixable flat. So she ended up with a mountain bike for the rest of the day. We floated down the hill to Pringle and then five more miles to the cabin for the night. The owners of the cabins said it was only 1/2 mile from the trail to the cabins, but it turned out to be around 2 miles of grueling uphills and we dragged in at dusk. Ron and John came out and met us, then we all went to dinner in Pringle. There was no moon early on and we saw the space station zoom by overhead through the Milky Way - a fitting end to a glorious ride! It was 39 miles on my odometer yesterday. Total ride miles for me was 303!! Not too bad for a 51 year old on a comfort bike! I am so glad to have done this and feel a sense of accomplishment. Thanks to Dusty and Ron, the girls, and everyone else that supported and helped me do this. It was a great time!
